Maria White Mebane C E R A M I C S Biography Maria White Mebane (pronounced Meh’bin) was born 1976 in Las Vegas, Nevada and raised in Summerville, South Carolina. The daughter of two artists, she was always encouraged to create. Maria fell in love with clay after discovering how delicious it is to work with and the infinite possibilities of the medium. She earned her degree in art from Winthrop University, studied sculpture in Italy, attended Haystack Mountain School of Crafts, Penland School of Crafts and apprenticed with sculptor Michael Sherrill. Her award-winning ceramics are collected and published internationally and have been featured in film and television productions. She also collaborates with her husband to make films.
